Beloveds in the Philly, NJ, DE, MD area.
I am doing a free day of training in preparation for PRIDE, or perhaps your communities' increased protest and direct action footing lately. There are tons of community, pastoral, and strategic reasons to show up to this, I promise to make every mile you drive worth it.
Maybe you want to get the crew out there, but just feel it isn't safe? This is the training for you.
Maybe you want to attend a training where the answer isn't to hide or call LEOs during a mass casualty event. This is the training for you.
Maybe you are aware local LEO's are citizens with feelings, thoughts, and dispositions towards your Trans, Queer, and other members, comrades, or community members in target categories and want to take their safety in these days seriously: This is the training for you.
Maybe you just want to attend PRIDE and get home safely as a group. This is the training for you.
Maybe you know that community defense doesn't mean violence, but you aren't sure how to face violence safely. This is the training for you.
Maybe you want to attend a training that knows what it's like to have people who trusted them get hurt, or worse, and doesn't want to throw your people's bodies at the system. This is the training for you.
It is free. Not just for church people. Not just for Lutherans. Not just for clergy. OPEN TO ALL.
Would love to have a room full of people doing good for good's sake.
Thanks, BP Bryan Penman, for holding this space. Shout out to Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod (SEPA), ELCA.
I can't wait to say hi to all my professors at United Lutheran Seminary.
See y'all in Benbow next week.
