I'm a numbers guy. This is definitely not all about numbers. But numbers are a part of it: about putting $$ into action in recognition that sins committed in our name, that sins we're complicit with, that sins we perpetuate, that sins we commit have real costs. And those costs include financial costs. So, I'm curious, is there a specific calculus that gets us to $32M? From Part 1 we've got "32K annually the amount of his salary he was denied adjusted for inflation." Help me connect the dots?

I was in seminary. Now I’m not. I have seen more. I have more faith in what the people of God are capable of despite our leaders.

I don't think $32M is such a big ask (less than half the annual churchwide budget; a drop in the bucket of the usual national reparations numbers thrown around; a number with apparently some symbolic value). The history geek and numbers geek in me will be curious to try to put the pieces together. I can start by learning more about Jehu Jones - the scenes with the Philly archives in your documentary are already very interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtD41cytL9Q. I look forward to watching the whole thing. (Already... the sound editing is fantastic! Love the use of surround.) (Sounds like maybe Pr. Jones was due an annual salary of around $1100, which went unpaid for at least 7 or so years.)
